AhlulBayt News Agency: The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia have warned about the serious consequences of any escalation in the region, as the United States moves additional warships into West Asia.
During a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan discussed regional and international developments, as well as issues raised in a phone call the previous night between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
According to IRNA, both ministers stressed the importance of collective efforts by regional countries to safeguard stability and security, emphasizing that cooperation among neighboring states is essential to prevent further tensions.
The discussion took place amid increasingly aggressive rhetoric from US President Donald Trump toward Iran. In a recent social media post, Trump called on Tehran to return to negotiations, warning that any future military strike would be “more severe” than the US-led attack carried out last June.
Iran has firmly rejected negotiations conducted under the threat of military action, reiterating that dialogue must be based on mutual respect rather than coercion.
Meanwhile, the United States has deployed the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its accompanying warships to the Middle East. Trump said on Wednesday that another “armada” of US naval forces is also heading to the region, further fueling concerns about potential escalation.
